  I was in the hospital for a different sort of surgery, while in the operating room (Dec. 2022) my colon ruptured, and Dr. Lugo (at Huntington Hospital) was called in to repair the damage. I was unconscious most of the time for about ten days, but when he came to visit, he roused me from my stupor and explained to me (he had already kept my son informed every step of the way) and explained what had happened and what procedures he had to go through. One thing he couldn’t do at the time was to insert surgical mesh to keep my organs in place. He explained that if I could tolerate the bulging abdomen for a year, it would be best to repair the hernia I had developed then. He did that about ten days ago (Dec. 2023). He was able to do most of the work laparoscopically, so I have a minimal incision, which has already healed. I believe he’s a genius when it comes to working with laparoscopic instruments. He is also very caring, goodnatured, and inspires confidence. I would choose him for any surgery I might need in the future.
