Ruwan A. Silva, MD, MPhil, completed his undergraduate education with highest honors at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA, majoring in neurobiology. He earned a Master of Philosophy degree in neurobiology from Cambridge University in England. Dr. Silva received his medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine in California. He completed an internal medicine internship at University of California, Irvine, School of Medicine and an ophthalmology residency at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, part of the University of Miami Health System. Dr. Silva went on to complete a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine, where he was a professor for seven years. He has extensive research experience and has published multiple journal articles on eye-related topics.
