Michael A. Lopez, MD, FAAP, FACS

Michael A. Lopez, MD, FAAP, FACS, and his family have strong ties to Tampa Bay. After graduating as Valedictorian from high-school in Bradenton, he attended the University of Miami and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. A member of the Foote Fellows Honors Program, Dr. Lopez was given the academic freedom to pursue a litany of Minors in Chemistry, Psychology, Modern Languages, and Creative Writing. Afterwards he obtained a medical degree at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. Dr. Lopez trained at Tampa General Hospital and Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital for an internship in Pediatrics prior to his Ophthalmology residency training at USF. His clinical training included a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Lopez excels in all conditions involving pediatric eye care. From more common in office vision issues to surgical care, such as ptosis (drooping eyelids), strabismus, pediatric cataracts, congenital tear duct problems, and more. Dr. Lopez has been elected as a fellow of both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Lopez has been providing care to Tampa Bay children for the past decade.
