
Alessandro Golino, MD, is a cardiothoracic surgery specialist who has been practicing for more than 30 years. He earned his medical degree from the University of Naples Federico II in Italy with top honors and completed his European cardiothoracic residency in 1991 with honors. A year later, as part of a team of surgeons associated with the Texas Heart Institute, he helped implant the first ventricular assist device in Europe. Dr. Golino completed his formal US general surgery residency training in 1997 and his cardiothoracic surgery residency in 1999. He was appointed chief of surgery at Manatee Memorial Hospital in 2006, vice chief of staff in 2010 and chief of staff in 2013.
