If his wife, Lynn, wasn’t the type who likes to explore the places she visits while on vacation, Myles Wegman might have gone right on fighting through the aggravating knee pain he first experienced during a cold winter in Atlanta a decade ago.

But while making plans to visit Sedona, Arizona, a few years later, Myles knew that if he didn’t do something about his knees, he would have no chance of keeping pace with his wife as she explored the area’s stunning red rock buttes, canyons and pine forests.

“She’s a walking person, so I finally said to myself, I need to do something about this,” Myles remembers. “So, I went to see a specialist, and he said, What you have here is really bad rheumatoid arthritis. But there’s not much I can do for you.

“He said the best thing he could do was put me on steroids, but he admitted that that was only a band-aid and not a particularly healthy one. So, I wound up taking some pills, and that kind of got me through the trip.

“After that, I got complacent with the knees again until a year or so ago, when my wife finally said to me, If you don’t do something about it, I’m going to be pushing you around in a wheelchair.”

That was the wake-up call Myles needed. At the time, his knee pain was not so great that he couldn’t walk, but it had escalated to where he no longer wanted to take daily walks with his wife or even stroll alongside her through a grocery store.

“If we went somewhere, I took the shortest route there and back, and if I parked my car in a parking lot, I was parking as close to the door as possible,” Myles says. “And if I did go to the supermarket, I was the one pushing the cart because it gave me some stability.

“The thing is, I didn’t know what to do about my knee pain. So, I eventually just googled arthritic knees and treatments for arthritic knees. That’s how I discovered QC Kinetix, and once I did, I started reading all I could about it.

“The more I read, the more intrigued I became, so I went down to the office closest to me, the one in Bradenton, and they examined me. They confirmed the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis and said, If you’d like, we can help you with this.

“I think what got me was that it wasn’t a hard sales pitch that they gave me. They weren’t saying, You have to do this because it’s going to change your life. They just said, We have a lot of experience with this, it’s helped a lot of people, and it can help you. So I said, OK, let’s give it a try.”

State-of-the-Art Treatment

A local practice with a national reputation, QC Kinetix offers drug-free regenerative medicine treatments for soft tissue pain, joint pain and musculoskeletal conditions. As an alternative to medications and surgeries, QC Kinetix’s therapies trigger the body’s ability to repair itself using healing properties found in the blood.

That blood is gathered from the patient during a typical blood draw. It is then placed in a centrifuge, where the healing properties are separated and extracted. The healing properties help spark a tissue regeneration in the targeted areas causing pain.

“Regenerative medicine is a great alternative for many people who thought surgery was their only option,” says Daniel Sucherman, MD, the medical director of QC Kinetix locations in Bradenton, St. Petersburg, Brandon and Lakeland.

After years as a key member of an orthopedic surgical team, Dr. Sucherman recognized the need for a better way to help people in pain. A strong believer in regenerative medicine and the positive impact it can have, he chose to meet that need through QC Kinetix.

“I’m an anesthesiologist, primarily for orthopedic surgery, and I know that people who go to an orthopedic surgeon for pain are commonly told they need surgery,” Dr. Sucherman explains. “And believe me, surgery has its place. But it is very strenuous on the body. It involves a lot of cutting, drilling, sawing and hammering, and the recovery process is very arduous.

“In many cases, there is an alternative. That’s why I became involved with QC Kinetix. I want to offer people an alternative to surgery, pain medications and steroids for their joint pain. That is exactly what QC Kinetix and its regenerative medicine treatments do.”

Although regenerative medicine is on the leading-edge of medical science, it is not a new concept. The treatment’s most basic principles have been practiced for years. At QC Kinetix, the process has been updated to provide better results.

For example, QC Kinetix uses state-of-the-art equipment that allows for the retrieval of the most beneficial healing factors from blood. In addition, the process can obtain components from young blood cells with extensive self-renewal properties.

QC Kinetix works with patients across multiple visits, providing drug-free regenerative treatments that are customized for each case. Symptom improvement is monitored for several months with no patient downtime. Most patients complete their treatments within six months and experience ongoing benefits.

“What helps to set QC Kinetix apart is that we do all of this in-house,” Dr. Sucherman points out. “Your blood and tissue never leave our office. And we do all this while you’re in the office. When we’re done, you simply go about your normal activities.”

Regenerative medicine treatments can be used to treat arthritis pain and muscle or tendon tears almost anywhere in the body, including the knees and shoulders, ankles and wrists. hips, low back, and neck.

“The ability to treat so many areas of the body is one of the biggest benefits of our program,” says Haley Weaver, PA-C, a certified physician’s assistant with QC Kinetix. “And we do that by mimicking the body’s natural healing mechanism.

“We’re not just putting a band-aid on something or temporarily suppressing inflammation. We’re sparking a natural healing process. To do that you need more than one blood product, so from each blood draw, we extract different components.

“Every time you get treated by us, more than one of those components is delivered to the area we’re treating because our goal is to keep supplying that damaged tissue with the ability to heal itself naturally over time. Each treatment acts as a building block for the next.”

Myles and his wife, Lynn, are enjoying a far more active lifestyle now that his knee pain has been erased through QC Kinetix’s regenerative medicine treatments.

“Exceptional Experience”

Myles first visited QC Kinetix in fall 2022. Following his initial examination and consultation, he received his first treatment the same day. He then asked if the treatment could be used to treat another bothersome area of his body.

“As I received the first treatment on my knees, I thought to myself, I wonder if this could help my shoulder,” Myles remembers. “So, I asked if I my shoulder could benefit from these treatments as well, and they said yes. So, I had my shoulder treated as well.”

Myles tore the rotator cuff in his left shoulder during a fall several years ago. Even after surgery to repair the tear, he was left with limited range of motion in that joint. At QC Kinetix, the shoulder was reexamined and the original diagnosis was confirmed. The QC Kinetix staff soon began treating Myles’ shoulder as well as his knees.

“After I fell, I had surgery on that shoulder, but I was told afterward that I would always have limited range of motion in that shoulder,” Myles adds. “Now, I’m not going to say that the QC Kinetix treatments have given me 100 percent mobility in that shoulder. But I can say that those treatments are allowing me to do more with that shoulder than I used to.

“For example, if I needed to change a light bulb, well, that left arm was not the one I was going to do it with. But now, ever since I received the treatments from QC Kinetix, I can change a light bulb with that arm. That may not seem like a lot, but it’s something. Small steps.”

Speaking of small steps, Myles says he has been taking a lot more of them since his knees were treated at QC Kinetix. The regenerative medicine treatments, he says, have allowed him to resume a lot of the activities he once sought to avoid.

“I’m walking and working out regularly again and just generally getting everything moving again,” Myles enthuses. “The bottom line is, I’m feeling really good, and I feel as if I’m still getting better, so I am very pleased with QC Kinetix.

“I had an exceptional experience with QC Kinetix. The staff exhibited unparalleled expertise and professionalism and always ensured that I felt comfortable throughout the treatment process.

“Their leading-edge treatments and compassionate approach make it a top choice for anyone seeking alternative regenerative solutions. I’m very pleased with them and I’d gladly recommend them to anybody who I think it would help.”
