The Weight Is Over

Couple opts for fat-burning tool to trim pounds before delayed getaway.

The springtime honeymoon that Heather* and Jared* spent island-hopping around Hawaii was so memorable that the couple vowed to do it again for their first anniversary. Unfortunately, fate stepped in and altered their plans.

“Two weeks before we were scheduled to go back to Hawaii, everything started to shut down because of the coronavirus and we wound up having to postpone the trip,” explains Heather, 43. “We didn’t cancel the trip; we just postponed it.”

A year passed before a return to Hawaii became possible, but by then some changes had taken place in Heather and Jared’s life.

“The biggest difference was that we had both put on some weight,” reveals Jared, 46. “After a year of working from home and not going to the gym, we’d both gained about 15 or 20 pounds. Just enough to make us feel uncomfortable about our appearance.”

Eager to reschedule their return to Hawaii but determined to look their best beforehand, the active couple began contemplating their options for toning up their bodies. When a friend suggested EMSCULPT NEO, Heather looked into it.

“I just did some research and found out that it was offered at the Dean Wellness Institute in Vero Beach,” Heather shares. “When I called about it, they suggested I come in and learn all about it. So, I scheduled a consultation.”

Specializing in …

Dean Wellness Institute is the practice of Melissa Dean, MD. An expert in treating menopause and andropause, Dr. Dean practices traditional medicine while also offering a holistic approach to wellness.

Her specialties include hormone balancing, adrenal support therapy and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), the latter of which is considered the most natural and effective solution for hormone-related issues.

Her clinic also specializes in intravenous therapies, including IV vitamin therapy, anti-aging/regenerative medicine and aesthetic treatments such as neuromodulators, hyaluronic acid-based fillers and microneedling with platelet rich plasma (PRP).

Among the other aesthetic offerings is EMSCULPT NEO, an FDA-approved nonsurgical body-contouring treatment that burns stubborn fat, tones muscle and tightens skin all at the same time, according to Dr. Dean.

Ideally suited for women and men who have a body mass index (BMI) of less than 35, EMSCULPT NEO delivers results through a system that delivers rapid pulses of high-intensity electromagnetic and radiofrequency energy.

“The energy is emitted through an applicator that is applied to the area of the body to be treated,” Dr. Dean educates. “The energy heats the fat cells to a degree where they simply can’t survive. Once the fat cells die, the lipids inside them are released into the lymph system and they’re excreted over time.

“At the same time that the fat cells are being targeted, the muscles are heated as well, and there’s a contraction device on the applicator that, when working the abdomen for instance, simulates the body doing about 20,000 stomach crunches in half an hour.”

Conveniently, this is all done while the patient relaxes on a table.

“We apply the device to the specific area that the patient wants to improve,” Dr. Dean explains. “And the device has a temperature sensor that tracks the temperature, so the patient doesn’t get too hot or
get burned.”

EMSCULPT NEO treatments typically last about 30 minutes and can be used on multiple areas with stubborn fat or a need for increased muscle tone such as the abdomen, legs, thighs, upper arms or buttocks.

Treatments are spaced five to 10 days apart, and Dr. Dean notes that patients typically “start to see the best results after 12 weeks.”

During an EMSCULPT NEO consultation, Dr. Dean builds a custom treatment package designed for the needs of that patient.

“Packages start with a minimum of four treatments, all dependent on the area to be treated,” she explains. “This ensures you will receive the best results. You’ll even notice skin tightening with this.”

Clinical studies show that after the fourth treatment, EMSCULPT NEO patients realize a 30 percent decrease in fat and a 25 percent increase in muscle growth.

Lay Back and Relax

After learning how the EMSCULPT NEO program works, Heather returned home and discussed the idea with Jared. Both agreed to give the treatment a try, and both were more than satisfied with
the results.

“I was looking to lose some weight and tone up my belly and thighs, and that’s exactly what it did,” Heather reports. “I was amazed at how effective the treatments were because all you do is lay back, relax and let the machine do the work.”

Jared’s goal was to lose those extra pounds and inches. He wanted to tone up his abdomen and reduce his love handles. He began to see noticeable results after two treatments and reached his goal shortly after the four treatments recommended by Dr. Dean.

“I was confident the treatments were working because I could actually feel them working,” he describes. “After the applicator heats up a little bit, it starts to go through a program of contractions that feels like steady drumming. The technician who provided the treatment explained the drumming was actually knocking the lactic acid out of the cells. What amazed me was that even though I could feel the drumming, I never felt any pain.

“So I got all the benefits of a muscle-building workout, but I didn’t have any of that pain or soreness that I usually get from a workout the next day. That’s a nice benefit, so I gladly recommend the EMSCULPT NEO treatments. It worked great for us.”

Heather and Jordan returned to Hawaii in early June, about a month after completing their EMSCULPT NEO programs. They say the treatments allowed them to feel confident about their appearance and helped them enjoy their trip to the fullest.

“We had a great time and got some great pictures,” Heather concludes. “Jared and I have both decided that if we ever feel like we need to lose a few pounds or get toned up for some special occasion, we’re going back to the Dean Wellness Institute and getting EMSCULPT NEO treatments again. They were just what we needed, and the process is so easy. We recommend the treatments and Dr. Dean to anyone. They’re both great.”
