‘The Secret’ Is Out

Look naturally younger for longer with Sculptra injectable treatment.

The fact that about 27 million acres, or 75 percent, of Illinois is farmland may seem trivial to most. It’s not to Kay Foster. After all, Kay is a self-proclaimed “numbers girl” who grew up on some of that Prairie State pasturage.

“I’ve always liked numbers,” Kay confirms. “I’m kind of fascinated by them, really. My father was the same way, so I think I get it from him. And yes, I’m a farm girl. I grew up in a small town in Central Illinois right there with the cows, pigs, corn and hay.”

Kay’s fascination with numbers proved to be her ticket off the farm. After earning an associate degree “later in life,” she became an accountant. A bit later, at age 61, Kay made good on her longtime dream of living in Florida.

“I wound up moving to Spring Hill because it reminded me a lot of the small towns back home in Illinois,” says Kay, now 77. “Spring Hill has grown a lot since I moved here, but it’s still very homey and friendly, which is why I like it so much.”

Spring Hill’s growth has coincided with that of Skintastic, a big-city-like med spa with small-town pricing. Since discovering it about eight years ago, Kay has become a regular at Skintastic, where she seeks to stay a step or two ahead of the aging process.

“I’m not ready to grow old yet,” Kay says of her reason for visiting Skintastic. “The first time I went there, I had some rather predominant wrinkles that I wanted to get rid of, and I had the greatest experience. I’ve been visiting them ever since.”

With more than 50 treatment options, Skintastic offers Hernando County’s most extensive menu of health, wellness and aesthetic services, including laser skin treatments, acne treatments and even CoolSculpting.

Skintastic also offers massage therapy, wellness shots, body scrubs and hormone replacement therapy. Plus, according to founder Janie Rushnell, CME, “No one out-facials Skintastic,” which has “every injectable on the market.”

“We want our customers to live the happiest, best life possible,” Janie relates. “We do that by offering services your typical med spa simply doesn’t have. And we guarantee natural looking results. That’s a promise I make to all of our customers.

“If you come to Skintastic, no one will know you’ve had anything done unless you tell them. So be prepared to get lots of compliments from your husband, boyfriend and other friends because they’re going to notice a difference in your appearance.”

Kay is proof that Skintastic delivers on its guarantee.

As a Sculptra master injector, Jamie trains doctors and nurses on the proper technique for injecting the filler.

“Real Game-Changer”

“People compliment me all the time on how good my skin looks, but they never ask me if I’ve had any work done,” Kay confides. “That’s because the results of the treatments are so natural, which has always been my goal.”

Kay has mostly sought help in erasing wrinkles across her forehead and around her eyes and mouth. More recently, she sought help alleviating a loss of volume in her cheeks and the area in front of her ears.

To address those issues, the professionals at Skintastic recommended a treatment using Sculptra® Aesthetic, an injectable that provides a more youthful appearance by restoring the
skin’s inner structure.

Intended for people with a healthy immune system who are seeking to fill shallow or deep nasolabial contour deficiencies and other facial wrinkles, Sculptra is not a hyaluronic acid filler but a poly-L-lactic acid, or PLLA-base treatment.

As such, it works deep within the skin to stimulate natural collagen production and increase overall facial volume. It does this subtly and gradually and, according to one clinical study, continues to work for up to 25 months after the last injection.

“Sculptra is a real game-changer,” Janie reports. “Throughout the aesthetic industry, it’s known as ‘The Secret’ because it works slowly and gradually, unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, and causes a regeneration of the tissue that happens over several weeks and months.

“It’s also known as ‘The Liquid Face-lift,’ which speaks volumes. Lots of ladies want a face-lift, but they don’t want the price of a face-lift or the downtime or risk of complications that come with a face-lift. Nor do they want the unnatural look that can come with a face-lift. They want to look natural, and that is what Sculptra does. It provides a very natural look.”

A typical Sculptra treatment regimen consists of three injections about three weeks apart. And while Sculptra is designed to be a long-lasting treatment, many patients see results immediately following their first injection.

Master Injector

At Skintastic, Sculptra treatments are provided by Jamie Johnson, ARNP. In addition to being a Galderma national trainer, Jamie is also a master injector of Sculptra, which means she trains other doctors and nurses on the proper technique for injecting the filler.

“Patients will see a renewed fullness to their face the day they get the injection,” Jamie confirms. “After a few days, that volume goes down, but over the next several months, a natural healing process begins and new collagen is built.”

Collagen is a natural protein that tightens skin and provides a more youthful, toned and plump appearance. As we age, this protein breaks down and causes fine and deep lines and wrinkles to develop.

The compound in Sculptra, which is injected deeper into the skin than other fillers, works by sparking a natural regeneration of collagen. As such, it’s an excellent option to build a strong foundation for the facial base.

“I prefer Sculptra over some other products because it succeeds in building your own natural collagen, the Type 1 collagen that we need to smooth out those fine lines and wrinkles and create elasticity,” Jamie adds.

“And while it’s perfect for someone older who may look a little gaunt, it’s also good for someone in their 30s or 40s who wants to maintain that look they had when they were in their 20s.”

Jamie notes that Sculptra injections typically include lidocaine to make the treatment more comfortable for the patient. She further notes that patients receiving Sculptra injections may want to do some homework to ensure the best results.

“We just ask that they massage the area that was treated for five minutes five times a day for five days to make sure everything is evenly spread out,” Jamie explains. “We show you exactly how to do that. It’s very easy.”

Kay carried out those simple instructions and says she couldn’t be happier with the results. Just as she hoped, the injections naturally filled out some hollow areas and took years off her appearance.

“The Sculptra treatments really helped fill out those areas around my cheeks and those marionette lines around my mouth,” Kay offers. “I was amazed at how Jamie knew exactly where to do the injections to get the look I was desiring.

“That’s why I think Skintastic is the best at what they do. They really listen to people when they come in, and they do their very best to get exactly what that person wants and needs. That’s been my experience with them for eight years now.

“And it’s really nice to see a woman entrepreneur such as Janie provide such great service in a small town like this. She does a great job helping the women here retain their youthful look. I’m happy to know her and happy for her tremendous business.”
