MCU A ‘Miracle’ Tool For Neck, Back, Leg Pain

The years of neglect that would eventually cripple Haiti’s infrastructure and spark the demise of the Duvalier dictatorship were just beginning to take their toll when Emmanuel* packed his belongings and departed for a better life in the US.

“I left Haiti and came here in 1980,” Emmanuel details. “I came mostly because I wanted to get a better education. I knew that I would have more possibilities for that here, and it’s worked out very well for me.”

After earning a master’s degree in psychology, Emmanuel spent several years working for the Florida Department of Children & Families before returning to his first love: teaching.

“I fell in love with teaching when I was very young,” Emmanuel elaborates. “My father was a teacher; he home-schooled children, and there were times when he would have to leave, and he would leave me in charge.

“I’ve wanted to be a teacher ever since. I’ve always had a desire to help people learn, and I’ve taught many subjects, including English, social sciences, history and math, mostly at the high school level. I also work as a guidance counselor.”

Emmanuel recently sought guidance himself after aggravating neck, back and leg pain invaded his life. The pain stemmed from injuries sustained years earlier, when he was involved in a series of automobile crashes.

“The first accident was in 2015,” Emmanuel relates. “It was a hit-and-run where my vehicle was hit from behind. Then in 2018, I was in another accident in which my car was hit on the passenger side by a car. A year later, I was hit from behind again while driving to work.”

After each incident, Emmanuel visited a chiropractor and was treated mostly for back pain and came away feeling fine. Everything changed, though, after the COVID-19 pandemic began two years ago.

“The MCU is a miracle machine, and we are fortunate that a practice like Active Health Center has it.” – Emmanuel

“I’m not sure what happened, but after everything shut down, I started to suffer from this terrible neck pain. The pain was so bad that it even went into my shoulders and back. Sometimes I could even feel it in my legs,” he explains.

“I did my best to fight through it, but I had to miss work a few times, and I had a terrible time sleeping. I couldn’t sleep at all on my right side because it made me feel dizzy. I even got dizzy just trying to bend over and pick something up. It was awful.”

Emmanuel sought further medical care, first from his primary care physician, then from a series of specialists. When none could help, he took matters into his own hands and discovered Active Health Center, where he met Marc A. Weinberg, DC.

“I read about Active Health Center and decided I needed to go there and see what it could do for me,” Emmanuel reports. “When I talked to Dr. Weinberg, he said something that really clicked with me.

“He said, We provide treatment, but God provides healing. When he said that, I said to myself, This is the man I want treating me. And I’ve learned since that not only is he one of the most honest men I’ve ever met, he’s by far the best chiropractor I’ve ever met.”

Dr. Weinberg earned those plaudits by alleviating Emmanuel’s pain through the use of a technologically advanced nonsurgical device that is exclusive to Active Health Center in South Florida. That device is called the Multi-Cervical Unit, or MCU.

Exclusive Access

A tool in what doctors refer to as evidence-based medicine, the MCU records 16 ranges of muscle movement for strength to determine the areas of the neck where there are weaknesses, imbalances or a loss in range of motion.

The MCU measures where neck muscles are weakest, develops a strengthening program and then assesses the patient’s progress

Once that data is collected, a program is designed that allows the MCU to correct the problems and strengthen the weakened muscles. As such, the MCU is considered the most effective, efficient system for assessment and rehabilitation of the neck.

Studies show that following MCU therapy, pain levels decrease an average of 66 percent while strength levels increase more than 70 percent, with more than 90 percent of patients making a full recovery, according to Active Health Center.

An MCU session lasts 20 to 30 minutes, with patients going through three sessions a week for nine weeks. During that period, patients are retested at least three times to determine the effectiveness of the treatments.

“We retest the patient every nine visits and compare the results of those tests with the results we received from our original examination,” notes Colin O. Behrue, DC, at Active Health Center. “That shows us how well the patient is progressing. Based on those findings, we make clinical changes that help the patient continue to improve and build strength.”

Passing the Test

When Emmanuel first visited Active Health Center last year, a series of tests performed on the MCU showed that previous damage to several cervical discs had caused a significant weakening of the muscles in his neck.

Dr. Weinberg immediately recommended a full course of treatment on the MCU to strengthen those muscles. Emmanuel recently completed that regimen and says the results have been astonishing.

“The last exam I took on the MCU showed that everything in terms of the strength of the muscles in my neck is now back to normal,” Emmanuel reports. “There’s no more weakness there, and I can feel the difference throughout my body.

“Not only is the pain in my neck gone, but the pain I had in my shoulders and back and even down to my legs is gone. And I’m back to sleeping anyway I want again, even on my right side. I no longer get dizzy if I sleep that way or if I bend down. It’s great.”

Emmanuel offers praise for Dr. Weinberg.

“Dr. Weinberg is the greatest chiropractor I have ever met, and I’ve been treated by many chiropractors. But none are as caring and compassionate as Dr. Weinberg. He really cares about people, and people need to know about him.

“That’s why I absolutely recommend him, and I will tell anyone who has neck pain or even back or shoulder pain to go see him and ask about the MCU. The MCU is a miracle machine, and we are fortunate that a practice like Active Health Center has it.”
