Corrections inject finishing touches to cosmetic treatments.
There is often a party going on at Naomi Bramwell’s place. Sometimes it’s a birthday party; sometimes it’s a wedding reception or a bar mitzvah. At the area better known to South Florida locals as Jazzy’s Hideaway, Naomi hosts them all.
“Jazzy’s Hideaway is part of our home,” Naomi explains. “We live on 2½ acres here, and part of that is a beautiful garden that we rent out for events of all kinds. Not too long ago, we had a baby shower here.”
That baby shower was one of just a handful of events Naomi hosted last year. Since COVID-19 hit, business has been slow. Naomi is hoping business picks up again in 2022. In the meantime, she’s been maintaining the garden’s exquisite beauty.
“I’ve spent most of my time the last few months gardening and making improvements to the area,” says Naomi, a London native who has also devoted a lot of time in recent months to maintaining her personal appearance.
Those efforts began years ago when Naomi started visiting her dentist for aesthetic treatments, including JUVÉDERM®, BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport®. When her dentist sold the practice, Naomi continued to receive those same treatments from the new provider.
“The new dentist came along, and he was so nice, so friendly and warm that I immediately felt very comfortable with him,” Naomi adds. “I continued to see him for all my aesthetic treatments. Then, not too long ago, I broke my front tooth.”
That prompted an emergency visit to her new dentist, Naved Fatmi, DMD, founder of Health and Wellness Dentistry, which has locations in Boynton Beach (Town Square Dentistry), Boca Raton (Regency Court Dentistry) and Lake Worth (Lake Worth Dentistry).
As part of his treatment, Dr. Fatmi performed a complete set of x-rays that revealed several issues that required further attention, including the absence of several teeth.
“She had no back teeth, so she had no posterior occlusion, which is the contact between the top and bottom teeth,” Dr. Fatmi reports. “Because of that, she had worn down her other teeth and they were very short, which was something she wanted to correct.
“I explained that we could do that by placing crowns on the existing teeth, but to keep those teeth stable, we had to give her back teeth so her front teeth would remain in their proper place and also to provide her with proper function.”
Look Your Best
The treatment plan Dr. Fatmi developed was designed in part to complement the aesthetic work Naomi had been receiving. Dr. Fatmi says a beautiful smile is often the finishing touch to a complete aesthetic makeover.
“Everyone wants to look their best, and we can absolutely help you do that,” Dr. Fatmi explains. “We can do the aesthetic work, then guide you through a dental program that will give you not just the look you want but the function you need.”
Such a program was what Naomi needed to complete her makeover, so she quickly agreed to Dr. Fatmi’s treatment plan. Soon after, Dr. Fatmi began his work by repairing the broken front tooth. He then went to work replacing the missing teeth.
Dr. Fatmi resolved that issue by using dental implants, which are screw-like bodies that are surgically placed into the jawbone. Once the implant is in the jawbone, new bone naturally grows around it to form the foundation for an abutment and replacement teeth.
The replacement teeth can be a crown that is cemented or screwed onto the abutment, a partial bridge that can be affixed to one or more implants, or a full denture that can be fastened to a series of implants.
Some patients require a bone grafting procedure designed to enhance the volume of the jawbone so it can properly support the implant. Bone grafts are typically done when an implant is seated. The implant then needs three to six months to heal to where it can support a prosthetic.
During the healing period, patients are usually fit with temporary replacement teeth.
Bone grafts are most often necessary with patients who have been missing teeth for many years because bone mass deteriorates when there is no pressure from chewing to stimulate natural bone regeneration.
“Million-Dollar Smile”
As part of her treatment plan, Naomi was fit with eight implants that supported new molars on the top and bottom arches. As soon as that phase of the makeover was complete, Dr. Fatmi began preparing Naomi’s remaining teeth for new crowns.
Naomi was eventually fit with more than 20 crowns during a smile makeover project that took about a year to complete. The results, Naomi beams, were worth the wait as she now has what she refers to as “a million-dollar smile.”
“My teeth are straight and white, and I couldn’t be happier,” Naomi enthuses. “I have that smile and look that I always wanted, and I no longer have to be careful about what I eat or how I eat because Dr. Fatmi gave me that proper function back as well.
“I only have great things to say about Dr. Fatmi and his staff. They’re all amazing. They take the time to listen to what your needs and wants are, and they always work with you in terms of scheduling and things like that.
“I recommend them very highly because they’re not just great professionals, they’re really great people. Like I said, Dr. Fatmi is a very nice young man, and he’s also very charitable. I’d recommend him and his staff to anyone.”
