Michael A. Pikos, DDS

Michael A. Pikos, DDS, a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry, and a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. After completing his undergraduate work summa cum laude and being inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, Dr. Pikos earned his dental degree with honors from Ohio State College of Dentistry. Subsequently, he has completed over 3,800 hours of continuing studies and has taught over 2,500 dentists — at least 1 from 32 different countries and each of the 50 United States — surgical techniques relating to dental implants, bone grafting, and soft tissue grafting. Dr. Pikos serves on the editorial board of Journal of Implant Dentistry and Case Reports in Dentistry, scientific board of Implant News Magazine, and as adjunct assistant professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine, Ohio State University College of Dentistry, and Nova Southeastern University School of Medicine; as courtesy clinical associate professor at the department of periodontics, University of Florida College of Dentistry; and as courtesy assistant professor of the department of prosthodontics at the University of Florida College of Dentistry. He is founder of the Pikos Implant Institute and was awarded the Aaron Gershkoff Memorial Award for outstanding contributions in implant dentistry, named Health Care Hero by Tampa Bay Business Journal, and named Dentistry Today Leader in continuing education 2008 – 2011.
