Samara “Sami” Bay knew it was time to have her varicose
veins treated.
“Family members told me,
You really need to have those looked at
,” she recalls. “Co-workers
said,
That looks painful
. Even
acquaintances asked me,
Have you been in
a car accident?
”
Sami’s problem veins were so troublesome, she altered her
wardrobe accordingly, even in the Florida heat.
“I’d always be in a long skirt or pants, or a long pair of
Capris. My legs would be hot and throbbing, and it just wasn’t comfortable.”
Sami visited Vein Treatment Center of Palm Coast, where
she met Charles I. Stein, MD, RPh. and N. John Collucci, DO, RPhS, both board-certified
and members of the American College of Phlebology.
“I’d seen doctors over the years who looked at [the veins]
and said,
You need to get something done
.
So when a friend referred me to [Vein Treatment Center], I went in and we got
the ball rolling.”
Comprehensive approach
Vein Treatment Center is a dedicated vein center, offering
comprehensive treatment of venous disease: they determine what’s wrong and then
work to resolve the entire problem.
“We perform a complete evaluation of the leg veins using
duplex and color Doppler ultrasound before recommending a treatment protocol,”
explains Dr. Stein.
“All procedures are essentially painless and are performed
in our office, so there are fewer risks when compared to treatment involving
hospitalization and general anesthesia.”
“There are several options available for addressing
problem veins,” adds Dr. Collucci. “It’s important to determine how to achieve
the best results with the least risk for each patient. Our goal is to provide
the most efficient and compassionate care to our patients.”
Leading-edge solutions
Depending upon the severity of the patient’s vein problem,
Drs. Stein and Collucci may recommend a minimally invasive Endovascular Laser Treatment
(EVLT), a Microphlebectomy, or an Ultrasound-Guided Chemical Ablation treatment.
“Unlike many centers, where partial treatments are
performed, we treat the entire vein problem – from spider veins to serious
venous disease,” says Dr. Stein. “Most procedures are covered by Medicare, and
many insurance companies will reimburse for them.”
Both doctors note the importance of patients being treated
by qualified physicians to minimize potential complications.
“Dr. Collucci and I are medical physicians and members of
the American College of Phlebology,” Dr. Stein explains, “and we have extensive
experience with these treatments.”
“Because we are dedicated solely to vein treatment, we
have the advanced techniques available to address these potentially serious
health problems,” adds Dr. Collucci. “We are able to provide dramatic success
stories for our patients, both cosmetically and functionally.”
“Amazing” outcome
In Sami’s case, the comprehensive treatment plan provided
another of those dramatic success stories.
“I didn’t realize how bad it was until I actually saw the
before and after pictures,” she reports. “Now, I’m able to put on shorts to run
errands, go out with the kids, go to the park...it’s just amazing.”
She appreciates the entire staff of the Vein Treatment
Center.
“They’re very
competent, and if you have any questions, they take time to answer them, but
they’re also very personable and caring.
“If anyone has ever thought about doing this, they should
look into it because it really makes a difference. I feel better on so many
different levels.”
