What’s Your WHY?

Program emphasizes reason for losing weight.

Sandy has a connection at Spring Hill Chiropractic & Wellness. She’s married to Michael E. Burr, DC, a wellness consultant and chiropractor at the center in Spring Hill. There, Dr. Burr advances a dynamic approach to weight loss based on positive lifestyle changes. Sandy took advantage of her association with the center and its doctor and started the program.

Dr. Burr’s weight-loss program worked
wonders for Sandy.

“Over the years, I’ve tried different ways to lose weight, and failed,” she admits. “But once I began Dr. Burr’s program, the weight seemed to come off automatically. It came off little by little, but it came off consistently. To succeed, I needed a lifestyle change. I needed to live a healthier lifestyle because I also had high cholesterol and high blood pressure.
“For me, the program was an overhaul in my relationship with food and with healthy living. That involved adjusting my diet and nutrition and adding some exercise. I like activities like bicycling, walking and paddle boarding. I also started eating nutrient-dense foods instead of empty calories.”

Determining Why

Through his research, Dr. Burr has discovered that overweight people have one of two problems keeping them from losing weight: Either they have a broken metabolism or broken behavior patterns. His program gives patients the tools to fix these problems in order to lose weight by becoming healthier.
“With behavior patterns, we begin by finding the patient’s why – why do they want to lose weight,” notes Dr. Burr. “Most people say, I want to be healthier, but I look for a specific, heartfelt reason such as, I want to live an anti-heart attack lifestyle because five people in my family have had heart attacks.

“It took me about six months, but I lost forty-eight pounds on Dr. Burr’s weight-loss program.” – Sandy

“We help patients discover their whys, which motivates them to follow the program and do the right things instead of their broken behaviors. People aren’t going to succeed with a forced discipline, willpower diet for the rest of their lives, but that’s what most people try to do.
“The goal of our program is to figure out what’s truly important to our patients so they go after what they really want. Then, when they’re tempted, have emotional cravings, those cravings are overridden by their whys. This is one example of the tools we teach to fix behavior and metabolism issues for a lifetime of success.”

Rewarding Journey

Sandy’s why was dual-focused. She was concerned when she learned of her abnormal cholesterol and blood pressure results, consequences of being overweight, and she vowed to get those levels back to healthy ranges. She also wanted to get back her energy and vitality to be a better caregiver and role model to her husband and children.
“It took me about six months, but I lost forty-eight pounds on Dr. Burr’s weight-loss program,” Sandy enthuses. “In addition, my high cholesterol and high blood pressure resolved. I have now kept the weight off for almost two years.
“I think Dr. Burr’s program at Spring Hill Chiropractic and Wellness is excellent. It gave me the tools to live a healthier lifestyle for the rest of my life.”
