Ride the Wave

Drug-free, noninvasive treatment improves sexual performance.

The first day of September 1983 still stands out in Stan’s* mind as if it were yesterday. It always will, the longtime insurance attorney says, and for good reason. That was the day the Rockford, Illinois native met the love of his life.

“I was fresh out of law school and interviewing at the firm that I first went to work for just a couple weeks later,’’ he says. “At one point during the interview, I was introduced to the staff and there she was.Drug-free, noninvasive treatment improves sexual performance

“It took me a few months before I could even dredge up enough courage to ask her out, but when I did, she said yes, and the rest as they say is history. We’ve been partners, literally and figuratively, for thirty-four years now.”

That partnership has spawned three children, all of whom are grown now, and survived a couple of significant moves, the last of which was to the Tampa Bay area about three years ago. It has also survived a recent medical challenge.

About a year ago, not long after he celebrated his 61st birthday, Stan began having trouble developing and maintaining an erection strong enough to have sexual intercourse. Known as erectile dysfunction, or ED, it’s an issue more common than many think.

Studies show that more than half of all men will experience some form of erectile dysfunction during their lifetime and that the chances of dysfunction are even greater among men suffering from hypertension, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Studies also show that smoking, heavy consumption of alcohol and drugs (either illicit or prescription) can also cause erectile dysfunction, which is typically the result of circulatory impairment in the blood capillaries or urogenital areas of the penis.

For years, medications such as VIAGRA® and CIALIS® have been the first line of defense against ED. If those prove unsuccessful, the next treatment option is generally injections into the penis. If that fails, the last resort has long been a penile implant.

Stan wanted nothing to do with the injections or implants, so after visiting a urologist, he first tried correcting the problem by taking CIALIS. “The CIALIS worked okay for a while,” Stan says, but he didn’t like the headaches that often came as a result of using it.

On the advice of his urologist, Stan considered trying another medication, but he soon took it upon himself to begin researching the problem and other forms of treatment. That’s when he stumbled on GAINSWave® therapy.

“I was searching the internet and finally found this website for a place that didn’t treat erectile dysfunction with pills or injections,” Stan says. “I figured it wouldn’t hurt to give them a try, so I called and made an appointment.”

Acoustic Wave Technology

The practice Stan found is that of Rene M. Reed, DC, DABCO, NMD, a practicing chiropractic orthopedic specialist and naturopathic medical doctor who specializes in alternative medicine at his Clearwater office, where he treats ED through the use of acoustical wave therapy.

“It’s really remarkable what this GAINSWave does for you.’ -Stan

Using a small, handheld device, the acoustical waves are delivered through a series of short, painless pulsations that not only open the blood vessels in the penis but stimulate the nerve endings to enhance sensitivity and enhance the feeling of an orgasm.

“The treatment is based on the same technology that’s used to break up kidney stones,” Dr. Reed explains. “The device transmits acoustical waves that break up the plaque and calcium that have built up inside the blood vessels in the penis.

“It works like a little hammer, except you don’t feel it because it doesn’t touch your skin. Once that plaque and calcium is broken up, you get better blood flow, and it’s that improved blood flow that leads to better, longer-lasting erections.”

Along with providing better blood flow through existing blood vessels, the GAINSWave treatment also stimulates the growth of new nerve tissue, which is vital for achieving and maintaining healthy erections.

In addition, GAINSWave causes the growth of new blood vessels to occur over a three- to four-month time period. This differs from the temporary blood flow from sexual enhancement drugs. New blood vessel growth leads to larger girth and firmer erections that are totally natural.

Dr. Reed points out that GAINSWave treatments can also be used to treat Peyronie’s disease, which is what occurs when scar tissue builds up in the penis and causes an abnormal bend, or curvature, to the penis that can impede urination and/or ejaculation.

“By making certain adjustments to the machine’s settings, we can treat the fibrous tissue the same way we treat blood vessels and break down the scar tissue that may be causing that irregular shape,” Dr. Reed informs.

Remarkable Results

GAINSWave treatments take between 20 and 30 minutes to complete, and a full course of therapy is generally a total of six sessions twice a week over the course of three weeks. Some patients may need more sessions.Drug-free, noninvasive treatment improves sexual performance

“For younger men, one course of six sessions is generally sufficient,” Dr. Reed explains. “But a man in his seventies, eighties or nineties with certain health issues such as high blood pressure or diabetes may need more.

“For those patients as well as anyone who has been a heavy smoker, it may take anywhere from twelve to even thirty treatments before they see a result. But it does work. More than seventy percent of men who have GAINSWave therapy respond to it.

“Another thing to keep in mind is that results do not happen right away. It may take more than one course of treatment, but most men notice a significant change in their status after a full course of six sessions.

“The effects of the GAINSWave therapy are long lasting. Once they begin to realize a result, most patients will continue to enjoy those results for one to two years, though some clinics recommend a refresher treatment every three to six months.”

Stan is among those who reported positive results after just one round of treatments. He says he may opt to have another round of GAINSWave treatments but that right now, his performance is more than satisfactory.

“I’ll be turning sixty-two later this year, and in the bedroom, I feel like I’m half that age,” Stan exudes. “It’s really remarkable what this GAINSWave does for you. And the treatments are all very quick and painless. A few minutes and you’re out of there.

“And one of the best things is how professional everyone at Dr. Reed’s office is. Let’s face it, this is a touchy subject for men. It’s not something anybody is going to brag about. But they put you at ease, and make you feel comfortable.

“I can’t thank Dr. Reed and his staff enough for treating me so well and for giving me back this part of my life. They did a great job, and I recommend them and the GAINSWave for anyone who has a problem with ED.”
