The red 1968 Chevrolet Corvette and the green 1965 Ford Mustang that are parked like museum pieces in her spotless, spacious and brightly lit garage are just two of the five classics that make up Jo’s* small fleet of collectable cars.

“I also have a ’65 Buick Riviera and a ’69 Dodge Charger that have been completely restored and a ’56 Chevy Bel-Air that I’ve been working on,’’ Jo adds. “The Bel-Air needs a lot of work, but I’ll get it in shape. It’s what I love to do.”

Collecting and restoring long-forgotten classic cars has been Jo’s hobby since she turned 17 and started working as a mechanic in her uncle’s garage. Now 62, Jo’s passion for the classics is as strong as ever, but restoring those cars had become a bit difficult for her.

“I’ve spent a lot of years working with my hands, bending over and kneeling down, and I guess Father Time had caught up with me, because I’d been dealing with a lot of aches and pains the last couple of years,’’ Jo reveals.

“The pain never got to the point where I absolutely couldn’t do the work I love to do, but it did slow the process quite a bit. That and the fact that I was feeling a bit sluggish. I didn’t have the energy after working all week to do what I love on the weekends.”

“I checked with my doctor, who couldn’t find anything wrong with me, so I battled through it for a while. Then a friend suggested I check out this place called iPulse. He said they treat pain and a lot of other ailments without drugs, so I gave it a try.”

Founded by Peter DeSimone, iPulse is an all-natural wellness center in Summerfield that offers several promising, noninvasive, drug-free remedies for chronic pain and swelling, the newest of which is called ozone sauna therapy.

A new twist on an ages-old idea, ozone sauna therapy oxygenates the body and uses steam to naturally cleanse it and strengthen the immune system, which in turn has wide-ranging beneficial effects on a person’s health and well-being.

Those effects used to be realized through time spent in steam baths or thermal springs, but they can now be realized by relaxing for about half an hour a few times a week in a specially designed private sauna cabinet, or pod.

The sauna cabinet creates an environment for the body in which activated oxygen, or ozone, is absorbed through the pores of the occupant’s skin and into their bloodstream, lymph system and fat tissue.

Once inside the body, the ozone goes to work detoxifying the lymphatic system, clearing the skin, relaxing the muscles and accelerating blood flow, which can kill bacteria, viruses and microorganisms.

“Ozone literally kills pretty much everything that’s bad in the body,” Peter explains. “It will kill viruses, mold, fungus and bacteria. It will also naturally break down the cholesterol in your veins and arteries and clear that out. It will even kill cancer cells.

Cancer by itself does not like oxygenated areas. It likes to attack in oxygen-deprived areas. This treatment is also great at reducing inflammation, which is the source of arthritis and the trigger point for most of the pain people suffer with.

“Ozone sauna therapy has a preventative nature to it as well, because it helps prevent things like allergies, asthma, diabetes, even Alzheimer’s disease. It helps prevent that by clearing out the toxicity in the body, which stimulates brain activity.

“It can also help you lose weight because you’re literally going to burn between six hundred and one thousand calories per session. We recently had someone who did six treatments in two weeks and lost fifteen pounds. And it wasn’t just water weight.

If you’re just losing water weight, it will bounce back in a couple of days. But this woman kept the weight off, and she hadn’t changed her diet or workout schedule or anything. All she did was start ozone sauna therapy.”

Feeling Years Younger

Hopeful that the treatments would give her a boost, Jo began ozone therapy treatments in October. She visited iPulse three times a week for three weeks and came away from the experience feeling as if she’d taken a step back in time.

“I literally feel younger,’’ Jo raves. “Several years younger. The muscle pain and achiness that I was living with for so long disappeared, and I started to feel a lot more energized and vibrant. And yes, I even lost a few pounds.

“I probably lost about eight to ten pounds overall, and it hasn’t come back. One of the best things about this therapy is that you can literally sense that your body feels cleaner from it. It’s almost like it’s running better, like an engine after an oil change and tuneup.

“It’s an amazing treatment, and you know you’re cleansing yourself internally because you can literally see the toxins that have come out of your body in the bit of water that builds up at the bottom of the sauna and on the towel you use to dry off.

“This treatment even helps clean you up externally. I mean, my skin is probably the cleanest it’s ever been, and I’m sure it’s because of the ozone sauna therapy. There’s so much good that this treatment does for you that I can’t help but recommend it.

“And I definitely recommend seeing Peter and visiting iPulse. He’s got a lot of treatments that are similar to this that just help you to feel better. He’s a great guy, and the services he’s offering are really unique and effective.”
