Exploring a New Tool for Facial Rejuvenation

For years, Andrea Perry, 72, owned and operated Ritzy Rags and Glitzy Jewels, Etc. Located on the town square in Inverness, the store was a familiar sight to the residents of Citrus County’s county seat.

“Ritzy Rags and Glitzy Jewels, Etc. was a boutique that sold jewelry and consignments,” the Roxbury, Massachusetts native reveals. “We were at that location for twenty years. I just stopped operating it a year ago, but twenty years was a good run.

“I’ve always had my own business. I had a skin care business in Massachusetts before we moved to Florida twenty-two years ago. Here, I wanted to open a high-end consignment boutique, and that’s when we came up with Ritzy Rags and Glitzy Jewels, Etc.”

Having a background in skin care, Andrea was particularly intrigued by an episode of the Today Show that featured a demonstration for a new tool for facial rejuvenation called the Aerolase® LightPod Neo®. The Neo, as it’s called, is a new laser that provides excellent results while maintaining patient comfort. It also has a low risk of adverse side effects.

“When I saw Kathie Lee Gifford getting the laser treatment on the Today Show, I got curious about it,” Andrea shares. “They said the laser improves skin tone and gets rid of redness and blotchiness in the skin. I’m getting older and I wanted to improve my skin tone, so I decided to give it a try.

“I know of Dr. Sharma because he treated my husband’s legs. I know he is a very knowledgeable doctor. When I heard he also offers the Neo laser treatment, I went to see him because I really like him and trust him, so I chose to get the treatment from him.

“I had already done some research on the Neo treatment, so I knew exactly what I wanted when I went to Premier Vein Centers for it. I didn’t require an extensive consultation. I just went in and had the treatment done.”

The Aerolase Neo delivers a high number of laser pulses in a short period of time, which is below the skin tissue’s thermal relaxation time. The short pulse time avoids overstressing the skin, so it’s safe to use for all ages and on all skin types.

“For lasers to be effective for skin rejuvenation, the laser energy must reach targeted structures in the epidermal and dermal layers of the skin,” Dr. Sharma elaborates. “Because of its short pulse duration, the Neo can deliver high levels of energy that reach those target structures without burning the patient’s skin. This laser is superior to previous generations of long-pulsed lasers.

“The Neo is safe because high laser energy delivered in short pulses confines the energy, which heats the skin, to the targeted areas. It doesn’t permit the energy to escape to surrounding tissues. This increases effectiveness and safety. It also means Neo treatments are more comfortable than other laser treatments. They can be performed without the use of anesthetics or skin-cooling gels.”

“It [the Neo laser treatment] felt like someone was snapping a tiny rubber band against my face. I also felt a warmth on my face, but it wasn’t painful at all.” – Andrea

The Neo has become the gold standard for treating a broad range of skin conditions. It is often used for facial spider veins, skin rejuvenation, skin tightening, sun and age spots, unwanted facial hair, acne, rosacea and scar revision. It helps restore patients’ faces to a more youthful, healthy appearance.

“Even without an anesthetic, there is minimal pain involved with the Neo treatment, and it requires little downtime,” Dr. Sharma assures. “There may be some minor redness to the skin immediately after the treatment, but patients can safely apply makeup and return to their normal skin care routines. Patients can also resume their regular activities immediately following treatment.”

Smoother, Tighter Skin

Andrea confirms Dr. Sharma’s report that there’s little to no pain and downtime with the Neo treatment.

“The treatment wasn’t uncomfortable,” she states. “It felt like someone was snapping a tiny rubber band against my face. I also felt a warmth on my face, but it wasn’t painful at all. My face was red for a couple of days, but then I began to see results.

“My skin was smoother and tighter, especially in my neck area. The treatment got rid of much of my turkey neck. Apparently, the Neo helps the skin produce collagen, and collagen is what makes the skin tighter. And the results from the treatment are cumulative.

“The more treatments you have, the better the results.

Dr. Sharma recommends three treatments for best results. I had one Neo treatment before I left for Massachusetts for vacation, and I’m very pleased with the results. I definitely look better, so I’ll definitely get the additional treatments from Dr. Sharma at Premier Vein Centers. I won’t go anyplace else.”
